WELCOME

The Institute for Crazy Dancing (ICD) is a cross-discipline collective of thinkers, do-ers, dancers and clowns. We make participatory performance work which aims to transform the audience into the performance, at the very least.

The work is contemplative and chaotic, intimate and spectacular, and always pertinent to the context in which it is played out. We create work that draws people together to re-consider the context, and each other.

The ICD has created numerous events, happenings and performance works. These include cross-city journeys; solo, duet and company performance pieces; site-specific immersive theatre experiences; launch events, residencies and workshops.

We work with dancers, poets, musicians, performers, professors, aerialists, journalists, philosophers, composers and many institutions / organisations to create work which generates multiple points of view and action…

Amongst other things, we consider all movement and stillness as dancing.

It s an 'Institute' for and not of - and therefore anyone is welcome to join.

What is 'Crazy'? And more to the point: what is 'Normal'..?

This website aims to open a virtual window into the ICD productions and processes… There is information on the ICD's past projects, opportunity to post your own images, lots of development material relating to the current project: Ship o'FoOls (SoF) and other ICD related information.

The ICD launched in January 2005 during the course of a project titled 'Persuasion' with Leikin Loppu Theatre Company.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch should you require any further information, or clarification...
